JOURNEY TO 26.2

Some of you all may be thinking that I am CRAZY for running 26.2 miles

YEA, ME TOO!

but this right here is 10 years in the making …

For me, this is something that I never imagined doing nor had a desire to do. My running background started in 2008 when I randomly took someone’s spot [who couldn’t make it] in the Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon [San Fran] within an 18 hour notice [thanks to Marlice Johnson]…lets just say that I was in a ton of pain 13.1 miles later [and my body was like WTH are you doing?!], but I did it!

There was an indescribable feeling that overcame me being out on the course with so many encouraging and motivating women running for all types of causes. From that moment I knew I would be back again, but with proper training of course.

I conquered the 2013 Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon in 2:42; this time around I had my girls with me, Charniece Tisdale and Autumn Wilson [who completed the race as a Marathoner]. I couldn’t comprehend or make any sense out of why someone would want to do 26.2 miles [when you could just end at 13.1 miles], but I was inspired by Autumn.

Fast forward to 2016, I hosted a Vision Board party and it was then when I marked the board with “26.2 miles” as a future goal. [Thanks to two very inspirational lovely ladies that I am honored to call framily from Portland, Oregon — Dee Loper [myChurch Mom] and Ana Boyce [#SirBasilDenimDior Mom While I Travel] who have completed over 26+ Marathons combined]. Still, at that moment I did not know when it would happen and thought I was even crazy for putting that on “my” board, but I believed in myself. September 2017 marked the moment where verbally I made the decision to complete this goal by participating in the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

I am EXCITED [like a kid on Christmas Eve] and Ready More Than Ever to complete this race on Sunday, October 7, 2018.

26.2 MILES is a HUGE feat to conquer and I couldn’t do it alone. I have dedicated each mile to a loved one who has passed away or someone who is currently fighting cancer:
