PIT STOP | SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA
Costa Rica is a beautiful country filled with lush tropical jungles, birds that sing sweet harmonious songs, and Caribbean culture that inspires you to live the pura vida. Whenever I make my way to Costa Rica I love to spend a ton of time in Puerto Viejo [PV], which is about 5 hours from San José. Traveling to PV after a day of traveling to Costa Rica can be a bit much especially depending on where you’re coming from and the time you land in CR. Whenever I need to add a travel buffer to my itinerary while in San José I like to explore the city. Lastly, a good night’s rest is always top on my list and I love a convenient place that offers the necessary amenities needed to get me through the next 24 hours of travel.

I am a fan of the Hampton by Hilton [located approx. 5 mins from SJO], which I book for FREE through my Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. The Hampton Inn offers a free shuttle ride to/from the airport along with a ton of other things:

Outdoor Pool
Nice Lounge Area
Hilton Reward Points
Super Close to the Caribe Shuttle Denny’s pick-up stop [which is what I like to use for transportation to Puerto Viejo, CR]
Another option for lodging is the Holiday Inn Express San Jose Costa Rica Airport, which is located, next door to the Hampton Inn by hilton.
